About the Position

HRV Conformance Verification Associates, Inc. is seeking an experienced Nondestructive Testing (NDT) Technician to join our growing team supporting bridge, structural steel, and transportation infrastructure projects throughout the Northeast, Southeast, and Midwest United States.

This position is responsible for performing nondestructive testing and quality assurance inspections to verify the integrity of structural steel components, welded connections, and fabricated assemblies in accordance with applicable industry standards, project specifications, and client requirements. The successful candidate will possess strong technical knowledge, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to communicate effectively with project managers, fabricators, contractors, and clients.

Primary Responsibilities

Nondestructive Testing & Inspection (90%)

  • Perform nondestructive testing of structural steel components, welds, and fabricated assemblies
  • Perform Ultrasonic Testing (UT), including shear wave inspections, in accordance with applicable procedures and project specifications
  • Perform Magnetic Particle Testing (MT) and Liquid Penetrant Testing (PT) as required
  • Evaluate weld quality and identify discontinuities, defects, and non-conforming conditions
  • Verify compliance with project specifications, applicable codes, and client requirements
  • Review fabrication drawings, inspection procedures, and quality documentation
  • Document inspection findings and recommend corrective actions when required
  • Coordinate inspection activities with fabricators, contractors, project managers, and clients
  • Maintain inspection equipment and calibration records
  • Promote and maintain safe work practices on active fabrication shops and project sites

Project Documentation & Administrative Responsibilities (10%)

  • Prepare and submit accurate daily and/or weekly inspection reports documenting work performed, testing results, and project compliance
  • Maintain organized inspection records, photographs, and supporting project documentation
  • Submit weekly timesheets and expense reports accurately and on time in accordance with company procedures
  • Participate in project meetings and communicate inspection findings with project managers, contractors, and clients as required
  • Assist with project closeout documentation and other inspection assignments as business needs require

Minimum Qualifications

  • ASNT Level II Certification in Ultrasonic Testing (UT) – Shear Wave
  • Minimum of 2 years of nondestructive testing and inspection experience
  • Experience performing NDT inspections on structural steel fabrication, bridge fabrication, or heavy steel construction projects
  • Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, email, and internet-based reporting systems
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and access elevated work areas
  • Ability to prioritize multiple assignments while maintaining exceptional attention to detail
  • Authorization to work in the United States without sponsorship

Preferred Qualifications

  • ASNT Level II Certifications in Magnetic Particle Testing (MT) and Liquid Penetrant Testing (PT)
  • AWS Certified Welding Inspector (CWI)
  • Additional ASNT certifications, including Visual Testing (VT) or Radiographic Testing (RT)
  • Experience inspecting highway bridges, transportation infrastructure, or structural steel fabrication projects
  • Experience with state DOT or other government infrastructure projects
  • Familiarity with AWS, ASTM, AASHTO, and applicable DOT specifications
  • OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 Certification
  • Experience preparing inspection reports and project documentation
  • Ability to interpret fabrication drawings, welding symbols, and project specifications
  • Ability to build positive working relationships with contractors, fabricators, project managers, and clients
